Introduction

Marriages are the best time to show one’s love and affection for the children whom the parents have fostered over years and have been nurturing them with the best of their capacity to make them able to stand on their feet and grow their own bread. They have been treated with such love and care that they naturally feel an obligation and love towards their parents whom they even consider as worshippable deities.

The Indian Vedic system has a set of 16 samskars or initiations which are neccessary for an individual who wishes to promote himself from a Shudra or an unqualiifed and uneducated person to a Dvija or an enlightened one who is wise and knowledgeable. It is the duty of every householder to impart proper education to his children in order to get them properly situated in the society.

Vivah Sanskar

Vivaha Sanskar is one of the important sanskars of the Vedic system whereby a male accepts a suitable wife as per the Vedic norms for selection of Bride and Bridegroom.

Vivaha sanskara is considered as a Yagya. There are many purificatory processes for advancing a human being to spiritual life. The marriage ceremony, for example, is considered to be one of these sacrifices. It is called vivāha-yajña. The Lord says here that any sacrifice which is meant for human welfare should never be given up. Vivāha-yajña, the marriage ceremony, is meant to regulate the human mind so that it may become peaceful for spiritual advancement. For most men, this vivāha-yajña should be encouraged even by persons in the renounced order of life.  All prescribed sacrifices are meant for achieving the Supreme Lord. Therefore, in the lower stages, they should not be given up. Similarly, charity is for the purification of the heart. If charity is given to suitable persons, as described previously, it leads one to advanced spiritual life.

Shukra puja

The Venus planet is considered as one of the nine planets in the Kundali chart or the horoscope. The shukra planet is the son of Maharishi Bhrigu, hence gets the name Bhargava. It is the central planet which keeps the person in this material world when present in the good position or with a friend planet. The planet represents sense pleasure, luxury and love in the person’s nature.

It is a planet of luxurious life and hence it governs the refined attributes, romance, beauty, sensuality, passion, comforts, luxuries, jewelry, wealth, art, music, dance, season of spring, rains and the bed-room. If shukra is in the right location in the birth chart, it makes such a person prone to aristocratic luxuries. Other auspicious results include success in love life, good and charming physique, profits in jewellery busniess etc. Venus is considered to be auspicious for jewellers, love makers, couple, musicians, artists etc.

On the other hand, Venus gives inauspicious results if it is debilitated or in an enemy sign or if it is in a malefic position. Inauspicious results may include eye affliction, stones in bladder, disturbed marriage life, poverty and debt, disturbed sexual life, defame, diseases in ovary and menstrual troubles etc.

Taurus and Libra are Venus’s signs. If these signs are in ascendant or if Venus is strong in the ascendant or if Venus’s sign is the birth sign of a person, then a person is influenced by Venus. A person influenced by Venus has a loving nature. Such a person has a charming built, melodious voice and a good sense of sense pleasure. In a human body, Venus rules genitals, mouth and chest. With the presence of a weak Venus, there might be some lack of function of genitals and the mind of a person. Such a person may even suffer from a mental illness.

Venus can also be associated with problems related to manhood, womanhood, stomach, intestines etc. In order to be free from the inauspicious results of Venus, various different things associated with Venus can be donated. These include  yoghurt, ghee, sugar, pearls, silver, sweets made of milk, sweets that are white in color, or white clothes. If Venus is very negative it shows in the form of one not getting the benefits of a married life, or marriages that break, or the lack of children, or no girl children – in these cases, make sure you do kanyadaan – donation for a girl’s wedding. The donations can be made to an elderly woman, the people who work at your in-laws, to the priest, or to cows and crows.

We, at Shubhpuja know your problems and requirements and those who are completely unaware of all such facts about shukra planet.

To receive the blessings of shukra planet and resolve all your issues, book your Shukra puja http://www.shubhpuja.com/product/shukr-puja/

The concept of Kapha in Ayurvedic Astrology

Posted on Updated on

kapha in AyurvedaThe element of cohesion which circulates in our body is termed as Kapha. This Kapha element is responsible for the natural cohesion and lubrication of the bodily pathways. As per the classical Ayurvedic texts such as Charak Samhita, the body is composed of three main elements or Doshas namely Vata, Pitta and Kapha which when present in their natural form, maintain the body and perform the required tasks.

But when any one of them is disturbed, there is an upheaval in the natural system and as a result, we are a victim of a particular disease. This also indicates that some of the positive planetary influences have been distorted and hence, there is a requirement of rectification.

Out of these three elements, the Kapha element makes the move by balancing the cohesion in the body.Kapha forms the major element of importance in the immune and respiratory system of human body. As per ayurvedic texts, the number of diseases due to Kapha disturbance are 10 in number since they involve malfunctioning of the respiratory aspect of the system.

The Kapha element of the body is divided into five types, each of which is located in different parts of the body. The five types of Kapha are

S.No.   Subtypes of Kapha Locations Actions
1.   Kledaka Upper part of stomach Lubricates the food, helps them to mix with juices, forms a protective covering over the inner line of gastric mucosa.
2.   Tarpaka Head and sinus cavities. Keep the nose, mouth, eyes moist and well protected.
3.   Bodhaka Tongue Salivation and primary lubrication of food, Taste identification.
4.   Shleshmaka Joints Lubrication of joints
5.   Avlambaka Chest, lungs and lower back. Keeps the chest, lungs, and back very strong, facilitates strong muscles and protects the heart.

The major place of location of Kapha element is the joints, which is indicated by the synovial fluidwhich is responsible for the greasing and lubrication of the joints.

Kapha element is responsible for functions like taste identification, sweetness, plumpness, cohesion etc. The principal action of Kapha is to regulate the cohesive activity and the soothing activities.

As per Vedic astrology, there are some planets and their associated zodiac signs which are associated with the Kapha element. The planets and the zodiac signs have earth element as their essential principle and hence, they become Kapha planets. They are as follows:

Zodiac signs: Taurus, Cancer, Pisces

Planets: Moon, Venus (primary), Jupiter (primary) Saturn (secondary),

These planets have their central element of support as earth and hence, when they become the Lagna planet or have an effect on the central houses of the Kundali chart, the influence of these planets causes disturbance or regulation of Kapha in the body of the individual. Depending upon their own positions in the Kundali, these planets have their multiple effects on the Kapha element and hence, the effect can be seen in miniscule or macroscopic form.

The Kapha element is affected by many of the processes happening inside the body, primarily digestion. When digestion is impaired, the undigested food becomes cold and increases Kapha production. Therefore, the food must be allowed to digest itself completely so as to allow complete regulation of the Kapha movement.

There are six tastes as per ayurvedic texts, viz. Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Hot and Astringent. The tastes are beneficial for Kapha balancing are bitter, astringent and hot and the rest three are helpful in Kapha aggravation. Therefore, a diet comprising of hot, bitter and astringent taste shall be helpful in the balancing of Kapha.

Role of the “evil houses” in a horoscope

Posted on Updated on

horoscope picture

For thousands of years, Astrology has been used to know one’s future or to act as a guiding post while making important life changing decisions.  The classical texts of Astrology like Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra which is regarded as the Bible of Indian Astrology and on which all subsequent works of Indian Astrology are based was  written thousands of years ago by sage Parashar.   Its oldest printed version is a composite work of 71 chapters, in which the first part (chapters 1-51) dates to the 7th and early 8th centuries, and the second part (chapters 52-71) dates to the latter part of the 8th century.

All the classical texts of Indian Astrology describe the 3rd, 6th and 11th houses in a horoscope (also known as the “trishadaya” houses ) as the “evil houses” in a horoscope.

Human society all over the world has evolved and changed in the thousands of years since the Classics on Indian Astrology were written.  It thus becomes clearly evident that if an Astrologer in today’s age takes the literal meaning of what is written in the classical texts and applies it without using his own common sense in attempting to make predictions today, the predictions will not only be totally wrong, but could cause huge financial, mental and  emotional losses for his client.  Recently, some incidents have taken place where Astrologers have advised clients based on the literal meaning in classical texts as interpreted by the Astrologer and where the client has sued the Astrologer in a Court of Law, or in some cases filed a Police complaint against the Astrologer for malpractice and cheating due to losses suffered by following the Astrologer’s advice.

We will now see why a majority of Astrologers fail to predict anything correctly in the modern age which is due to the evolution of human society and also due to a failure on the part of the Astrologer who has misinterpreted the classical texts while at the same time failing to keep up with this evolution of human society.

For example the classical texts all say that the Mahadashas (MD’s) and the Antardashas (AD’s) of the Trikone lords (houses 1, 5 and 9 are the Trikone houses in a horoscope) are very auspicious for a person and “Yogakarak’’and that the MD’s and AD’s of Trikone lords will make him very happy, give him very good health and will fulfil all his desires.  Now, let us dissect this interpretation and apply it in today’s context.  The MD of the 1st house lord will give a person good health, strength, mental happiness and a good character.  The MD of the 5th house lord will make a person intelligent, will lead to love affairs and will also give him/her happiness from children if married. It might also improve luck to an extent as the 5th house is the “secondary house of luck” as it is the 9th house counted from the house of luck which is the 9th house.  The MD of the 9th house lord will make a person lucky, will make him religious and make him go on pilgrimages and improve his relations with his father.

We have seen above what the MD’s of the Trikone lords have to offer.  Then what about materialistic success, money and power which everyone craves for in today’s world ?

They are nowhere to be found in the trikones it seems.  And therein lies the answer why most Astrologers fail to understand the nuances of making predictions in today’s uncertain times.  What today’s society wants viz money, power, materialistic success, name and fame is nowhere to be found in the Trikones.  Or to put it the other way round, the needs and aspirations of human society when the Classical texts on Astrology were written and the needs and aspirations of society today are entirely different.

Now, coming back to the question of which houses then bestow money, power, fame and materialistic success which we all crave for today, we get the most unlikeliest of answers – all the things we crave for in today’s modern age are given by the MD of the houses which are termed as “evil houses” or “trishadaya” houses in a horoscope by the classical texts  – the 3rd house, the 6th house, and the 11th house.  (The AD’s are much shorter in duration compared to MD’s, so actually the benefits given by these houses will accrue during their MD’s).  Let us now see how so called “evil houses” can benefit a person so much.  The MD of the 3rd house lord gives a person the self confidence and the courage to take on all the challenges of the modern world.  Without having self confidence or courage, a person can achieve nothing.  The negativity associated with this house in classical texts of Astrology is only because the MD of the 3rd house may make a person overconfident and bombastic.  The 6th house according to classical texts is the house of disease, debt, competition and  enemies. But the MD of the 6th house lord will give a person the power to defeat or suppress his enemies, to surge ahead in competition and to establish his brand name in the market.  Then the only two things negative about the 6th house are disease and debt.  And that is because if a person runs after material success, he has to work hard and as a consequence, health suffers.  As for debt, businessmen do have to take loans to run their businesses.  Without Bank finance, it is impossible to run many businesses today.  So in a way, if one does not get a little into debt, one cannot progress or succeed in today’s age.    Now, we come to the MD of the 11th house lord.  The classical texts say that the 11th house is the house of desire fulfilment. The 11th house is also known as the house of gains or profits as it gives gains or profits. The only reason why classical texts are negative about the 11th house is because the 11th house lord’s MD increases a person’s desires to such an extent that it may become impossible to fulfil those desires. But then why will a person work hard unless he has some desires to fulfil ?  This is exactly the very premise on which Capitalism is built – individuals will work hard to earn well for themselves to fulfil their materialistic desires and thereby live happy lives.  Economic theory also says that “human wants are unlimited.”

Thus we see how the MD’s of the so called “evil” or “trishadaya” houses can power the growth of an individual in today’s modern age and times.  In fact, a person can achieve materialistic success and make lots of money only during the MD’s of the “trishadaya” houses.  If a person is not getting MD’s of “trishadaya” houses in his horoscope, he can never achieve material success in the modern world. If  the lord of a “trishadaya” house is a natural malefic like Saturn, Mars or Sun, and the malefic planet is also placed in its own house, the results given are simply amazing during its MD. For example in a horoscope with Virgo Ascendant (Virgo lagna) , the 6th house lord will be Saturn and if Saturn is also placed in the 6th house, then during Saturn’s MD, the person will touch great heights by crushing all his opponents and competition, he will conquer illness, he will wipe out all his debts and he will establish a brand name for himself.  There are two other houses in a horoscope apart from the “trishadaya” houses which can also give wealth and success in one’s career or profession.  One is the second house which is known as the house of wealth.  But it is also a “marak” or death inflicting house.  Therefore, during the MD of the second house, one will make good money, but one’s health may suffer and even death is possible.  The other house which gives progress in career or profession thereby resulting in material success is the 10th house.  Good progress in career or profession is seen during the MD of the 10th house lord as well.

Thus we see that the rules of the game have changed for making Astrological predictions in today’s modern and complex times.  Traditional Astrologers, if they are out of tune with today’s reality or Astrologers who wrongly interpret the ancient texts while putting theory into practice will be totally at sea in predicting good or bad times for their clients.  To deliver accurate and pinpoint predictions in today’s age, an Astrologer has to be a real professional who also keeps himself updated with all the analytical tools of Astrology like the KP system   Asktakvarga and Shadbal and he needs to have a finger on the pulse of society as well.

The malefic ‘Kaal Sarp Yog/Dosha’

Posted on

shubhpuja.comWe have commonly heard about the varied malefic defects in our birth chart, some of which are created depending upon our karmas and planetary positions; one of which is ‘Kaal Sarp Yog or Kaal Sarp Dosh’.

What is Kaal Sarp Yog?

In Hindu horoscope, if all planets are between Rahu and Ketu shadow planets, the person is considered to be afflicted with Kaal sarp yog. A complete Kaal sarp yog is formed when exactly half the natal chart is unoccupied by planets. Exclusion of even one single planet outside the Rahu-Ketu axis does not signify Kaal sarp yog.

Kaal in Hindi means death whereas Sarpa means serpant or snake. Rahu and Ketu are considered serpent in astrology and hence when all planets of a kundli falls between these two planets, it ought to create dangerous effects on the person suffering from it.

Why is it formed?

Though it depends upon individual to individual yet the past karmas and their negative effects are a major reason of this malefic yog. It is said that the effect of this yog lasts for about 47 years or even more. Effects of this yog remains longer when Rahu placed in 5th, 8th, & 12th house and shorter when Rahu is placed in 3rd, 6th, & 11th house.

Impacts of Kaal Sarp Yog:

  • This dosh eliminates the positive effects in life and leads to disturbance and struggle.
  • One suffers from mental imbalance, loss of sleep, anxiety, and lack of self-confidence.
  • Major issues like marriage, property, child, finance and so on, are often disturbed and delayed.
  • The native is not able to reap the fruits of his hard work and does not get full credit of his contribution.
  • The native also suffers from chronic health issues and low immunity.
  • Unhealthy relation with family and friends, treachery from colleagues is also evident.

Kaal Sarp Dosh Mantra:

The Mantra given below is the Gayatri Mantra for Kaalsarpyog or Kaal Sarp Dosh mantra:
||Om Bhjangeshaaya Vidmahe, Sarprajya Dhimahi, Tanno Nagah Prachodaya||

Thus to eliminate the disastrous effects of this dosh or at least lower the effects if not eliminated completely, Kal Sarp Dosh Nivaran puja is one of the remedy. Adoring Lord Hanuman and feeding ants or fishes, should be done.

Manglik Dosha

Posted on Updated on

If you have been a part of wedding preparations at some point of your lives, chances are that you’d probably have come across the term “Manglik Dosh”. You might have heard this term more prominently during the discussion about the boy’s and the girl’s horoscopes. Manglik Dosh, as the name suggests, refers to the impact that the planet Mars makes on a person’s life when it takes certain positions in the ascendant chart. People born under this influence are called Mangliks. Technically, for a person to be manglik, Mars should be in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of the ascendant chart.
Since Mars is regarded as a bold and fiery planet, a manglik by nature is quarrelsome and aggressive. This domineering and bold nature is said to spell disaster in their married lives.
It is astrologically believed that the manglik dosh is unfavorable for marriages, causing discomfort and tension in relationships. There are several myths regarding this condition, the most famous being that the non manglik spouse dies after marrying a Manglik, even though this is an extreme possibility.
There are a number of measures one can take to ensure a blissful married life. It is believed that the negative consequences for a single-manglik marriage can be resolved if the manglik first performs a ceremony called akumbh vivah, in which the manglik “marries” a banana tree, a peepal tree, or a silver or gold idol of the Hindu God Vishnu.

The bad effects of Mangal Dosh can also be reduced with the help of astrological remedies including the application of Pooja, Mantras, and Gemstones.
There are various combinations regarding the extent and effect of this dosh in the horoscope. But of late, an increasing number of individuals are placing less emphasis on Manglik Dshubhpuja manglik_doshaosha, during the selection of a life partner. And what’s wrong in that? Finally it comes down to personal preferences while giving importance to such conditions.

This is so because there are many contradictions to this condition. To begin with, this Dosh is popular only with Hindus. If this Dosh really existed, then it must be applicable to people of all religion, cast and creed. Logically speaking, this Dosh, is therefore connected to the Hindu religion alone rather than Astrology as a whole. Now if the fate of a person is written in his/her Horoscope wouldn’t he/she die according to his/her own fate? In other words if the destiny of the person along with his death is written in the Horoscope at the time of birth, how and why will it change after marriage?

Whatever your beliefs maybe, Manglik Dosh still continues to be one of the most widely discussed and debated topics in regards with the Hindu marriages.
