Winter bringing diseases like cough and cold which are not curing- Sindhurmani Dhanvantari Puja is at rescue
Winter season : The season of health
As soon as the sharp hot rays of the sun leave the northern atmosphere after the Sharad season and the weather becomes slightly cold in the morning, the people in India begin to relish the sweet taste of the cold winds which blow throughout the early morning walks in the park and street.
These cool early morning walks not only refresh the mind but also the body as well. We all feel the fresh aroma of the flowers in the garden and the rustling of the leaves as well pass by over them which are there on the ground due to the Autumn season.
Gradually, the Hemant Ritu comes i.e. the season of winter and it brings along sweets and savouries. The whole market is flooded with fresh fruits and varieties of vegetables and eatables which make the mouth water.
As per Ayurveda, the health or the digestive fire is maximum in the winter season and hence, the body is able to derive nourishment from the food stuffs it is eating. One can easily see that mother ans grandmothers are busy in making items of ghee, atta, dry fruits and other warm things for the body.
Diseases associated with cold
No doubt that winter is a very pleasant season when we can enjoy the warmth of the sun in day and fireplace at night and warm blankets throughout the night. These things give us so much pleasure that we don’t wish to leave them even when the sun is overhead.
But, this season brings along those things which if not taken care of, can result in various complications which remain throughout the year.
The winter season brings with him the diseases like:
- Asthma attack
And many more diseases which are very painful. Since the person coughs and sneezes day and night and especially at night, he cannot sleep at all. He becomes so vulnerable that he is forced to take sleeping pills and cries a lot.
The problem lies when it becomes chronic. Being acute i.e. for a matter of few days is tolerable but one cannot keep coughing for weeks and months and years.
Cause of these diseases
Some of the causes of the disease can be
- Lack of immunity
- Evil planets in the Kundali
- Black magic by someone
- Irresponsible behaviour towards cold
- Evil eye and intentions of someone

Today is Gita Jayanti. This very day, the Lord spoke Gita to Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
Srimad Bhagwad Gita or the divine song is a dialogue between The Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna and his dear devotee Arjuna. It is not a debate amongst two intelligent people neither it is a derogatory discussion in which one person is deriding other of his so called situational cowardice.
Is it a debate or dialogue?
It is a dialogue based upon the loving exchanges of the supreme master and his dearest devotee who is standing in the battlefield, baffled in the situation. Since Lord is the supreme well wisher of all devotees, he is always there to give protection to his surrendered devotee and act as the best guide for those who worship him with all love.
The two verses in Bhagwad Gita support the Lord’s action when he spoke to Arjuna, the whole chapter of Bhagwad Gita
Verse 18.66 : Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear.
Verse 10.10 : To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.
Who can receive this knowledge?
There are more than 400 editions of Bhagwad gita with overall readership of millions. But not everyone becomes a pure devotee. There is a condition for understanding the real purport of Gita, which the Lord himself enunciates.
Verse 4.3 : That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by Me to you because you are My devotee as well as My friend; therefore you can understand the transcendental mystery of this science.
How the discussion turns into a submissive hearing dialogue?
Arjuna who was standing in the battlefield saw the pitiable and precarious condition. He became aggrieved and was dumb struck. Lord just asked him for the reason. As he spoke,
Verse 2.2-3 : The Supreme Person [Bhagavān] said: My dear Arjuna, how have these impurities come upon you? They are not at all befitting a man who knows the progressive values of life. They do not lead to higher planets, but to infamy. O son of Pṛthā, do not yield to this degrading impotence. It does not become you. Give up such petty weakness of heart and arise, O chastiser of the enemy.
Then Arjuna gave counter arguments as the following verses.
Verse 2.4-6 : Arjuna said: O killer of Madhu [Krishna], how can I counterattack with arrows in battle men like Bhīṣma and Droṇa, who are worthy of my worship?
It is better to live in this world by begging than to live at the cost of the lives of great souls who are my teachers. Even though they are avaricious, they are nonetheless superiors. If they are killed, our spoils will be tainted with blood.
Nor do we know which is better-conquering them or being conquered by them. The sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, whom if we killed we should not care to live, are now standing before us on this battlefield.
That’s why untill Arjuna uttered the following verse, the Lord didn’t advise him anything about what is to be done and what is not to be done. First Arjuna said (2.7) and then he acted as well according to his words (2.9). Then only Lord spoke.
Verse 2.7 : Now I am confused about my duty and have lost all composure because of weakness. In this condition I am asking You to tell me clearly what is best for me. Now I am Your disciple, and a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct me.
Even after speaking this verse, Lord didn’t speak to him anything because Arjuna didn’t show the symptom till he did this.
Verse 2.9 : Sañjaya said: Having spoken thus, Arjuna, chastiser of enemies, told Kṛṣṇa, “Govinda, I shall not fight,” and fell silent.
As soon as the Lord saw the first symptom of surrender i.e. Obedience, he immediately chastised him and then, he gave the gem of Bhagwad Gita. Then no more there was any debate or discussion of arguments and counter arguments.
Verse 2.11 : The Blessed Lord said: While speaking learned words, you are mourning for what is not worthy of grief. Those who are wise lament neither for the living nor the dead.
This initiates the dialogue which now becomes a submissive hearing of Arjuna from the Supreme Lord. Then, the Lord gave him the first lesson which is necessary for every human being. As per Srila Madhvacharya, no person cannot be considered a human being untill he knows and acts as per this first lesson.
The First Lesson Of Bhagwad Gita
The first lesson of Bhagwad Gita is that we are not this body. We all are souls, which is part and parcel of supreme lord. Qualitatively, we have similar qualities as that of the lord but quantitatively, we are minute tiny particles, of the size of 1/10,000 of a tip of a hair.
Verse 2.13 : As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change.
Shvetashwatar Upanishad 5.9 : “When the upper point of a hair is divided into one hundred parts and again each of such parts is further divided into one hundred parts, each such part is the measurement of the dimension of the spirit soul.”
The three secret teachings of Bhagwad Gita
There are three main teachings of Bhagwad Gita.
Secret knowledge Verse 8.3 (Brahma feature) : The Supreme Lord said, The indestructible, transcendental living entity is called Brahman, and his eternal nature is called the self. Action pertaining to the development of these material bodies is called karma, or fruitive activities.
More secret knowledge Verse 9.22 (Paramtma feature) : But those who worship Me with devotion, meditating on My transcendental form-to them I carry what they lack and preserve what they have.
Most Secret Knowledge Verse 10.8 (Supreme Lord feature) : I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this perfectly engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.
Bhagwad Gita has four shlokas which are the core essence of the teachings.
Verse 10.8 : I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this perfectly engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.
This verse is about the qualification of a pure unalloyed devotee who is having unflinching faith in Lord.
Verse 10.9 : The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are surrendered to Me, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss enlightening one another and conversing about Me.
These are the activities of his pure devotee. This is how he should behave.
Verse 10.10 : To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.
This is how the Lord gives him intelligence to come to him, the ultimate destination.
Verse 10.11 : Out of compassion for them, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.
And if anything nonsense remains, the lord from inside burns that out.
This is the simplest form for understanding the Bhagwad Gita and the process it elaborates.
The last important verses of Bhagwad Gita
The instruction which the Lord repeated twice in Gita for making a person attached to Lord
Verse 9.34 : Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, offer obeisances and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.
Verse 18.65: Always think of Me and become My devotee. Worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend.
The ultimate instructions of the Lord
Verse 18.66: Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear.
Verse 18.68-69: For one who explains the supreme secret to the devotees, devotional service is guaranteed, and at the end he will come back to Me.There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear.
